7 Foods To Boost Your Financial Intelligence

7 Foods To Boost Your Financial Intelligence

Now you might be thinking, what does food have to do with boosting my financial intelligence? I’m not here to learn about dieting, I came to fatten up my bank account. Well, if you haven’t heard by now, certain foods can help you do just that.

We’ll jump right into it by going over what these foods are, where to purchase them, why these foods are beneficial to financial intelligence, and how to consume them to achieve the optimum benefits. While there are several other foods that can bring a positive boost in brain power, these seven are some of the best tasting and effective around. In no particular order, let’s get started.

1. Grass Fed Butter – Now grass-fed butter is truly a favorite and can be a real clean source of fuel for the brain. Even as a person sensitive to dairy, I find grass-fed butter to be a smooth and clean source of fuel. Without getting too much into the science of it, grass-fed butter is rich in fatty acids and fat-soluble vitamins. Grass is what nature intended for cows to eat so we won’t mess with that other artificial hormone pumped, corn fed generic butter. Make sure to get the good stuff and go for grass-fed butter which can easily be found at most grocery stores. Consuming grass-fed butter is best on a good steak, mixed with some green leafy vegetables, or even used to saute some chicken. There’s another interesting way to consume your grass fed butter first thing in the morning, which we’ll get into shortly.

2. MCT Oil – This is a big time favorite of mine due to the immediate positive effects MCT oil has on the brain and body. However, I will disclose a warning to start off with smaller amounts of MCT oil, no more than one teaspoon until you adjust to it. There can be a cleansing effect produced by MCT oil that will have you working on your sprints (to the bathroom) at possibly inconvenient times. Don’t let that stop you as the positive effects once adjusted can be amazing. An excellent way to start your day with a heavy kick is with a Bulletproof Coffee. This is a simple recipe, take your favorite morning coffee, add one tablespoon of grass-fed butter, one teaspoon of MCT oil and give a quick whirl using a blender. Enjoy first thing in the morning or anytime for an amazing pick me up and brain boost. All credit on that wonderful creation goes to Dave Asprey, entrepreneur and author of the Bulletproof Diet.

3. Bone Broth – Bone broth seems to be making an emergence back into households across the globe since the dawn of the Paleo diet. This is not a fad and has been around for hundreds of years if not more. As a kid growing up I remember my Father used to always make a broth with chicken bones whenever anyone in my family started to get sick. It’s almost like this potion magically reversed whatever sickness we were feeling and gave an immediate lift to the immune system. Various convenient methods of bone broth are available on the market these days. I personally have enjoyed these versions when I am away from home. However, the truest way to create bone broth is to purchase pound or two of chicken or beef bones from your local butcher and pressure cook them in water to create an amazing broth that can be enjoyed at any time. For a detailed video of how to make this broth see this video which easily explains it.

4. Avocados – Who doesn’t like guacamole? Well, that’s a simple way to get your serving of avocados in. However, the chips may not be the best brain fuel but we’ll leave that for another discussion. Avocados are packed with healthy fats to keep your brain humming along nice and strong. Other than making guacamole, the simplest way to eat an avocado is to just cut it open and slice it up over a salad or chicken and rice bowl.

5. Walnuts – Nuts, nuts, and more nuts. Walnuts are among the healthiest in the nut family. Packed with protein, healthy fats, fiber, plant sterols, antioxidants, and many vitamins and minerals. According to an article written by Dr. Mercola, “Walnuts may improve sperm quality, help with weight control, and offer support for brain health and type 2 diabetes.” It’s easy to see that your brain (and future generation) will thank you later for having that handful of walnuts in the afternoon instead of those fluorescent highlighter colored gummy worms from the break room vending machine.

6. Eggs – Eggs are packed with high quality protein and good fats in the yolk. Eggs are also rich sources of selenium, vitamin D, B6, B12, and minerals such as zinc, iron and copper. I’m sure you’ve already noticed by now that a majority of these foods are all high in fat. Yes, that is exactly why these foods made the list to assist in boosting your financial intelligence. Our brains actually thrive off healthy fats and require them for optimal brain health. There are so many different ways to have your eggs any time of the day. Personally, I recommend an egg omelet complemented with some garlic, onions, tomatoes, turkey bacon, and some chili sauce. Even hard boiled, these are the perfect go to snack item.

7. Blueberries – Blueberries are an amazing powerhouse of nutrition and can greatly help in boosting overall brain function. There is always the controversy of fresh versus frozen. I actually prefer frozen and I’ll tell you why. Frozen blueberries are generally frozen within the same day that they were picked. This means that a majority of the vitamins and nutrients remain intact without much loss. I’ve found fresh blueberries to constantly turn moldy after a very short time of arriving home. This is potentially due to the gap in time it takes for grocery stores to manage the logistics from the farms to the stores, to the shelves and into our homes. Those poor blueberries go through a lot without a natural preservation technique such as freezing them. It’s up to your liking, but that’s the reason why I tend to purchase frozen berries over “fresh” ones.

While no single food can help a person, but a combination of several foods and lifestyle choices can bring a boost to your financial intelligence. It almost seems to automatically make a person reduce the amount of junk food they eat once these types of foods are introduced into a person’s life. I know it definitely caused me to stop eating a lot of fast food, I was once a huge Jack In The Box addict.

Once you start making progress and gains you won’t want to go back. More effectively, you will want to take those gains and reinvest them into yourself to start creating compound interest. At that point you may find yourself being pulled towards your goals almost effortlessly. I hope you get your hands of some of these tasty treats this week. Until next time, keep pushing and progressing.
